Provider of mobile and location-based family safety solutions Location Labs launched Safely, touting it as the next generation of personal security software services that “enhance the safety of millions.” The new offering is actually a suite of services that leverages the widespread adoption of Location Labs’ mobile technology, which is being pre-loaded on millions of smartphones. It includes several parts:

  • Safely Locate – family location service which powers the branded family locators for nearly all of the Tier 1 wireless carriers in the U.S. In total, Safely Locate users performed more than 400 million locates last year.
  • Safely Drive – which prevents texting and calling while driving by detecting motion to lock the phone automatically.
  • Safely Social Monitor – helps parents ensure their kids are using Facebook responsibly, while at the same time protecting children from cyber-bullying. For a limited time, it is available for free.

And that’s not all. For the fourth quarter, Location Labs announced further expansion of the service. We’ll see whether they’ll come up with something cool…
