The Washington Post has finally figured out there are enough Android users for their content. Hence they’ve launched a mobile app to provide them with access to “best in politics, international, finance, arts & culture and local news.” The application is touted to offer an “intuitive, mobile news experience” and having played with it for half an hour and I can prove this claim. This is not to say I enjoy reading The Washington Post that much — I prefer some other sources.
Aside from the mentioned news content, there’s traffic information — including real-time Metro arrival times and alerts, traffic cams and continuous updates from Dr. Gridlock. Moreover, users will get to access “comprehensive weather information,” which involves updates from the Capital Weather Gang, 7-day and hourly forecasts for cities across the globe, and weather maps with radar images and weather alerts for the D.C. metropolitan area.
The central part of the application is the “Dashboard” from where you can tap your way to all of the app’s content and services whether it’s the mentioned weather info, blogs, photo galleries, traffic information or… whatever. Each article can be shared via e-mail, SMS, Facebook and Twitter…
