NAVIGON is apparently the first navigation software company that launched a navigation app for Windows Phone 7 devices. As far as we can tell, their new application for Microsoft’s mobile platform is pretty much on par with what they’re offering on other platforms, including iOS and Android. In that sense, expect the same NAVTEQ maps, NAVIGON MyRoutes routing technology, Speed Assistant, Google local search, live traffic information powered by INRIX, along with some additional features like Reality View Pro, Lane Assistant Pro and Reality Scanner (augmented reality feature used for identifying nearby destinations). What’s more, NAVIGON for Windows Phone also takes advantage of the platform’s capabilities to allow users to save any address as a shortcut to the start screen.
In addition to the full-blown navigation application, NAVIGON also announced a free traffic app for Windows Phone 7 devices – traffic4all, which helps drivers avoid gridlock by providing them with a clear overview of traffic conditions. Developed in partnership with INRIX, it features colored road overlays that indicate traffic flow, ranging from green for normal to red for traffic congestion or black/white for blocked roads.
NAVIGON for Windows Phone 7 with on-board maps for the USA is available for a special introductory price of $29.99 until November 15, 2011. The other app, traffic4all, is free to download with an option to upgrade for $1.49 – to turn off the ads.
