Location-based services provider TeleNav is updating its mobile application for Sprint’s Android devices. TeleNav GPS Navigator 7.1 goes beyond turn-by-turn directions to help folks run errands around town, explore and discover what’s around them, or simply commute to work or school.
The first thing you’ll notice is the new homescreen called “My Dashboard” from where you can quickly access key app features and customize your “Home” and “Work” buttons to get current drive times based on live traffic. Moreover, there are improved map options, including smoother and faster map rendering and Multi Routes, as well as “enhancing features” like live traffic, red light cameras and satellite view map layers.
New widgets are also on board, allowing for quick access to a map of the user’s current location, a one-box search field, and navigation with Home and Work commute times. Additionally, shortcuts in the navigation and search widgets make it even easier to access popular Places categories and local traffic…
TeleNav GPS Navigator 7.1 works on Sprint’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, LG Marquee, HTC EVO 3D, Kyocera Milano and Samsung Replenish. Tablets from Sprint running Android Honeycomb will also include the app.
Finally, it’s worth adding that TeleNav’s app will come bundled at no additional charge with Sprint’s Everything Data and Simply Everything plans, with optional premium features available for an additional $4.99 per month. Custom car icons cost 99 cents each.
