Rumors as to an official launch date for the ASUS Transformer Prime have swirled around like a tornado, but the U.S. should see the tablet in time for holiday sales. The Transformer Prime will hit U.S. shelves starting December 8th. according to ASUS, after Taiwan receives the slate first on Dec. 1.
The Transformer Prime is an impressive 8.3 mm-thin tab that packs not only the first Tegra 3 quad-core processor, but a 10.1 inch LED display with Super IPS+ (1280×800), Gorilla Glass, hydro-oleophobic coating for fewer smudges and easier cleaning, a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, 8 megapixel shooter with a F2.4 aperture and LED flash, 1080p HD video capture and last but not least, sport Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 (check out how it runs here). The Transformer Prime is without a doubt one of the most anticipated releases of the year when it comes devices.
The base model of the ASUS Transformer Prime starts at 32 GB and will run you $499. This isn’t bad considering the lesser powered iPad 2 16 gigger costs just as much.
