Good news if you own the Acer Iconia Tab A500 – the Taiwanese company is pushing the new software updates (two of them) for its 10.1-inch tablet as we speak. Don’t expect the Ice Cream Sandwich though; this is rather a maintenance update that will make your Iconia A500 snappier as well as bring the latest version (3.4.4) of the Android Market app along with a number of performance and stability enhancements under the hood.

However there’s a word of caution for those of you with rooted Iconia Tab A500 – we’re not sure whether these software releases will break your root so you better search through the Interwebs and see what other members of the community are saying. In any case, make sure your tablet is fully charged and all your key information is safely backed up on your computer before proceeding. If that’s on place – hit the “Update” button and take it from there.
