One of the main problem Windows Phone users have is the lack of proper, easy to use tool to backup their devices. Sure the contacts and calendars are (usually) synced with the third-party servers, and you can also keep some other content in the cloud, but you may need some of the files from the phone backed up as well.
That said we’re everything but surprises to learn that Microsoft is working on a backup and restore tool. The information (a hint actually) comes from a recent job listing, suggesting an engineer is needed to join the Windows Phone Backup, Migrate and Restore team. The ad goes on saying that the new feature will be included in the “next version” of the platform, which may easily be Windows Phone 8 aka Apollo.
It’s only obvious Microsoft will want to integrate any such capability with its SkyDrive service making backups a snap. Can’t wait to see it in action…
