We’re at the incredibly packed CES 2012 preview event and I stumbled upon a neat little product from Kivic which brings the power of AirPlay to your car.
I guess you can kind of think of the Kivic One as an Apple TV for your car, as it wirelessly stream content to your in-car entertainment unit. While AirPlay is the marketing hook, it can also accept content through DLNA and WiFi. You then plug in an audio jack into your car and you have a quick and easy way to stream your iPhone’s or iPad’s content to your car.
The device itself is very small and sleek – probably about the size of a pack of cards – and it even comes with an HDMI port, so you could use it as a standalone box for your TV. The company is pushing it for the car because that’s the space that no one has really tapped yet, Kivic said.
Look for the Kivic One to land in the next few months for about $200.
