Alexey Roslyakov, the same guy who managed to cram Android to the Nokia N900, is trying to make the Nokia N9 dual-boot Android and MeeGo. In his private tests (public release is still not available), he made the N9 run Android by pressing the volume-up button during boot.
The progress is partially documented at Maemo.org and as we far as we can tell – we’re talking about something that is still far from the “stable” release. There are ongoing stability issues, with many users reporting problems when trying to repeat the process. Moreover, extra efforts are put to make OpenGL work properly.
In any case, this is something every N9 owner out there should follow with great interest. I do agree that MeeGo is a great platform, but let’s face it – there are not that many apps you can install on your N9. With dual-boot you’ll be able to get the best of both worlds – everything you like about MeeGo, plus a ton of apps to choose from the Android Market. Now if you’re one of proud N9 owners, make sure to check out Maemo’s website and see if there’s something you can do to turn this dual-boot idea into reality. Good luck!
