Last year, LG used Mobile World Congress to poke us in the eyeballs with the Optimus 3D and it brought out the sequel during this year’s show. We got a good look at the Optimus 3D Max and it looks to be a worthy sequel.
If you’ve ever handled the first 3D phone from LG, you’ll immediately be struck by how much thinner the Optimus 3D Max is than its predecessor. It’s a slim device that feels pretty good in your hand.
Of course, the main appeal is the 3D screen, as you can see glasses-free 3D on it and it works pretty well for most use cases. The 4.3-inch screen has a resolution of 800 by 480 and things really do seem to pop off the screen. It’s not just about watching 3D though, as there are a pair of 5-megapixel cameras on the back which allow you to record in 3D.
You’ll also find a 1.2 GHz processor but some of you may be put off that it will launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread – I guess Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t cool enough for 3D yet. Still, for those of you who like this sort of thing, I don’t think we’ll see a better 3D phone than the Optimus 3D Max.
