TurboTax launched a new app for Android tablets, rounding out a “robust suite of TurboTax mobile offerings.” It is described as the only tax prep app designed specifically for Android tablets that enables taxpayers to prepare and e-file both their federal and state taxes completely from their tablet.

Internet connection isn’t required while filling in the forms, while you’ll have to connect to a local hotspot (or use cellular connectivity) to e-file taxes. Moreover, you can easily and securely email a copy of your tax return to your computer. Security also comes built-in, allowing you to password protect your tax returns.

The application itself is free to download, though based on your tax situation you may have to upgrade to TurboTax Premier or TurboTax Home & Business. Sounds neat, paperless and like something you could done from a cafe… if you don’t mind other people walking and talking around while you’re doing the paperwork for Uncle Sam…
