Starbucks's free iOS app a week promotion now lives in Canada

First it was a free song every week and now Starbucks is turning that promotion into something users want even more – free apps. After the U.S., the campaign has been recently expanded to Canada and will bring a new iOS app every Tuesday. Using the redemption card, coffee drinkers will be able to download a paid app through iTunes by entering a unique code. The first app being offered, in case you wonder, is EA’s Tetris.

I love Starbucks for experimenting with mobile technologies. They don’t want to wait for NFC to start accepting contactless payments – their mobile app already allows iPhone owners to pay for their favorite hot drink without cash. And since that scheme is reportedly working like a charm in the U.S., the coffee chain is expanding the offering to Europe. Neat! 😉

Finally if you still don’t have the Starbucks app installed on your iPhone (iPod Touch or iPad) and you also happen to live in Canada, hit the link below and take it from there.
