You’ve probably heard about two new social networks, Pinterest and Buffer, first of which keeps growing like crazy. However at the moment, it’s the early adopters that are jumping on board and both companies have still to reach the tipping point and become mainstream services. Here are two things Pinterest and Buffer could do to spur adoption:
1. Integrate with mobile news readers
Sounds simple and Buffer is already doing this with select services. However, I believe the strong integration with all of them is key to success. I don’t see anyone of them having the proper integration with super-popular Pulse News (my news reader of choice) — and by “proper” I mean a small icon next to Facebook and Twitter.
2. Dolphin Browser plugin
Plugins make Dolphin Browser awesome. I love the ability to add whole web pages to my Evernote account straight from the browser and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Both Pinterest and Buffer could benefit from a dedicated plugin for one of the world’s most popular web browsers.
The third point would be to integrate everywhere else. Release a mobile SDK and allow developers to add “Pin this” or “Add to Buffer” buttons within their apps. Now that I’m thinking about this, the shortcut could be to work with app making services that allow anyone to create their own apps without a single line of code… Any thoughts?
