Halfbrick gets on board GetJar Gold virtual currency

Halfbrick, the maker of popular mobile games like Fruit Ninja and Age of zombies, announced that it is the latest company to support the GetJar Gold virtual currency.

Introduced a few months ago, the GetJar virtual currency stands out from the crowd because it is entirely backed by advertiser spending, so consumers still get free apps and free in-game purchases. Users are rewarded with their loyalty.

Developers can eventually exchange the virtual currency wit GetJar for dollars, so this could potentially help make Android an easier platform to monetize. Recent data suggests that the Google Play store isn’t the best way to monetize, as third-party stores like Amazon are providing developers a better bang for your buck.

“We’ve been working with GetJar on the initial phase of GetJar Gold and will continue to work with them on the Virtual Currency integration so we can offer our customers a choice on how they want to pay,” said Shainiel Deo, CEO of Halfbrick, in a prepared statement. “We think this is a good alternative to monetize our premium games, and are pleased to partner with GetJar on their innovative Virtual Currency approach.”
