It looks like Sprint will be seriously beefing up its portfolio of LTE devices later this year. The rumor is that the LG LS970 (internal name “LG G”) will be joining the Now Network at some point in the fourth quarter of this year. What makes this an interesting news is that this is the first time we’re hearing about a smartphone that packs both a quad-core processor and LTE radio — if you look at the HTC One X for example, its LTE version rocks Qualcomm’s dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU (rather than a quad-core one). In other words, we think of the LS970 as an LTE-enabled LG Optimus 4X HD and in that sense it will also pack a large 4.7-inch 720p screen (most likely True HD IPS).
All said, we’re not sure which company will make this processor. BriefMobile thinks it could be TI, which OMAP5 is planned to be released later in the year. That’s just a speculation, but that’s all we have at the moment. 😉
