Although HTC CEO and president Peter Chou promised that all HTC Android devices launched after September 2011 can have their bootloaders unlocked, AT&T obviously didn’t want to comply with this for the brand new One X. To make things worse, HTC did release the source code for the One X though AT&T’s version was not included in the package. The way I see it, we have AT&T to blame for this, though you never know…
All this prompted users to gather and ask for AT&T and HTC to do something about it. There are several ways you can force AT&T to re-think its decision, first of which includes signing this online petition. Then, feel free to do any (or all) of the following things:
- Comment on AT&T’s Facebook page, demanding the bootloader be unlocked. Like every other post that talks about it.
- Create threads at AT&T and HTC forums asking when the bootloader will be unlocked. Also add your two cents in related discussions.
- Retweet this.
- File a Better Business Bureau complaint – it takes just 5 minutes to complete and can actually makes a difference.
- Call HTC (425-679-5318) and AT&T Customer Service (611) – in AT&T’s case, ask to speak to a supervisor; they’ll transfer you if you are persistent.
