Wikitude, which is one of the Augmented Reality pioneers, wants to bring the technology to even more users. Their new solution, called “AR window,” enables any mobile webpage to include Augmented Reality content.
According to the press release we got, using this technology mobile web pages will be able to open up smartphone’s camera view so that users can view the live video stream with additional augmented content on top of it. Wikitude’s CTO Martin Lechner said that this will allow users to “interact directly with the real world while browsing the web.”
Sounds cool and kinda scary at the same time — i.e. I’m not sure I want to interact with web pages that way, though I could be wrong on this one.
