Dropbox has some exciting news for its customers that has been fueled by the high demand of its mobile users. Starting immediately, new customers can sign up for the updated Pro plans with additional storage at no extra cost and current Pro customers will get an automatic boost in storage capacity.
The previous plans offered 50GB of storage for $9.99 per month and maxed out at 100GB for $19.99 per month. The new flavors start at 100GB for the same entry-level price of $9.99 per month, 200GB for $19.99 per month, and an additional plan with 500GB for $49.99 per month for Dropbox’s heaviest users. You can also pay the annual fee up front of $99, $199, or $499 respectively. For an extra $39 per year, you can add-on the “Packrat” unlimited undo history option for Dropbox to save versions of files.
Of course the free 2GB plan is still available as well which is expandable up to an additional 18GB for referrals and specialized plans for enterprise teams start at 1TB and pricing is negotiable.
Dropbox says the reason why its upgrading storage is to accommodate not only customers working with large files, but regular consumers too who need more especially now that the Dropbox apps support automatic uploading of photos. It’s seen a big jump in the amount of storage people are using because of this. Ultimately the new plans will be beneficial to users as well as Dropbox itself to put up with the competition from other cloud storage providers.
