After Google Now, we have another app being pulled out from the Android 4.1 ROM and ported to Ice Cream Sandwich – Google Music v4.3.605 (currently you can download version 4.1.513 from Google Play). It is said that any ICS device will work with the app, whether it’s rooted or not. Here’s how to install it on your phone or tablet.
- First, make sure your Android device can run apps from unknown sources. Tap “Settings,” then “Security” and tick “Unknown sources” to enable this (or “Settings” > “Applications”).
- Download the new version of Google Music from here.
- Copy the “Google_Play_Music_4.3.605.392829.apk” file to your phone tap it to start the installation (using some file browser).
- Now start the app and you’re good to go.
You’ll notice a new UI and a permission request notification on the status bar – tap on it to access your Google account. Moreover, the homescreen widget also comes included, allowing you to pause/play music without opening the Google Music app. Pretty neat I would say. 😉
