MetroPCS will soon add a new mid-end device to its portfolio – Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G (model number SCH-R940). The LTE-enabled device which reminds us on the Droid Charge has already been cleared by the FCC and is pretty much ready for the official introduction. As far as we’ve understood, the carrier will launch the Galaxy S Lightray 4G at some point in mid-August.

Specs wise, the upcoming smartphone comes with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen (most likely WVGA), 8-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel front-facing one, 3G/4G (LTE) and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth and a memory card slot. We’re hearing it will pack a single-core processor clocked at 1.3Ghz, hinting us MetroPCS will most likely offer Sammy’s baby for some $100 (or less) on a contract.

Finally, we’re not sure whether the device will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich out of box or you’ll have to settle with Gingerbread. We’ll most likely have additional details in the coming days when we may or may not get back to you. It’s not like the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G is somehow special that it deserves that much attention, right?
