Nokia Belle sends out refresher update to Symbian phones

Nokia has finally released a refresher to its Belle update for suffering Symbian fans out there. The mobile operating system hasn’t gotten any real press since Nokia effectively killed the Symbian name and rebrand the OS to Nokia Belle. Yup, the Finnish company basically threw a mobile platform that it was once so firmly behind right under the bus. But, that sour news began to sweeten a bit when Microsoft Office came to Nokia’s Symbian Belle devices this past spring.

The new update goes to devices currently running Symbian Belle. Reports have pinged the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, C7, C6-01, X7 and Nokia Oro (running on version 111.040.1511) to have already started receiving the update.

The most beneficial parts to this upgrade has to be the improved HTML5 support in the browser. In addition, users can expect to see new home screen widgets, a combined package containing the newest Microsoft Office Mobile App and Nokia Maps Suite 2.0, and new imaging apps for the N8. The update is being rolled out globally over the course of the next few weeks, as it’ll be sent in phases. Users must know that compatibility of certain applications or software may alter things a bit.

Lets us know if you got your Belle Refresh update in the comment section!
