The Samsung Ativ Tab is now available for pre-order in the UK, with Clove listing the Windows RT tablet with the hefty price tag of 549 GBP (about $892). That’s kinda steep, prompting us to re-think the Korean company’s prospects in this market. Sure enough, we’re talking about a powerful device here, one that rocks a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2MB Of RAM, dual cameras (5MP on the back / 2MP front-facing one), 10.1-inch 1366×768 pixels screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, NFC, Bluetooth and a memory card slot; but is that enough the fight the iPad? I don’t think so – Microsoft will have to put an extra effort to convince users to grab a tablet with their own OS — rather than buying Apple’s or some Android-based tablet.
Anyway, the Ativ Tab should be one of the first Windows RT products on the market. Microsoft will offer its own Surface tablet(s), and we also expect to see a number of different models from the likes of Asus, Acer, Dell and HP. Hopefully, their devices won’t be as expensive as the Ativ Tab…
