According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s suppliers in China have begun mass producing the iPad Mini, Apple’s 7.85″ tablet set to shake up the smaller tablet market. The iPad Mini has been rumored for some time now, and Apple is allegedly set to unveil the device to the world later this month. LG and AU electronics have been tapped to produce the LCD screens on the iPad Mini, and the companies began producing those units last month.

Apple is expected to hold an event later in October, with the iPad Mini expected to go on sale in October or November ahead of the holiday buying rush. No word on pricing has been leaked, though we expect the tablet to retail somewhere in the $250 to $350 range if it is to compete with the $199 Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD tablets, with a slight bump for the extra screen real estate.
