Google released a new Chrome for Android update that brings a unique background audio playback feature. In addition, the updated version of the app comes with responsiveness tweaks and a new version of the V8 JavaScript engine, which allows for the new audio feature to work in the background.
So what’s the big deal, you ask? Well, if users want to listen to audio within the Chrome app, they can switch to another app without losing the sound. Another cool thing folks will be able to do is pause audio once a phone call comes through. Safari on iOS has had similar features for a while, so Google stepping its game up with Chrome makes the browser more of a full featured option for Android users.
