Samsung is preparing to open a new Research & Development centre in the land of Nokia on June 13th. In an email sent to AndroidBeat, Dr. Yong-Suk Moon, President of Samsung R&D Institute UK, said that the centre will focus on “advanced technologies,” without going into further details.
With Nokia laying off people left and right, it makes perfect sense for other companies to pick-up all this talent. Finland is known as the country with the best education system in the world, so there shouldn’t be shortages of talent for Samsung to choose from.
Also worth noting is that this is the Korean company’s first R&D facility in the Nordic region, opening at the time when Samsung managed to outsell Nokia in its own home market, according to Q1 figures from IDC.
