The ZTE U988S is getting closer to its launch date. The device has been caught in the wild again, and review units are already getting to the hands of Chinese media representatives.
According to ZTE, the world’s first NVIDIA Tegra 4-powered smartphone will soon start selling for an incredible price of 1,999 Yuan, which translates into some $326. That’s a bargain considering all the horse-power users get for that money. Plus, the rest of the phone’s specs are equally respectable and include things like a 5-inch full HD screen, 13-megapixel camera on the back, 2GB of RAM, Dolby sound, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, while that Tegra 4 chip is clocked at 1.8GHz. Yeah we would we get it in a second for 330 bucks.
Unfortunately though, this unit has China Mobile’s logo on it, hinting us ZTE’s primary market for the U988S is China with the rest of the world likely not getting it in the near future. Then again, as I’m sure NVIDIA wants to see this or some other phone with their flagship processor hitting the store shelves all around the world, it’s fair to guess we won’t have to wait for too long to see it in our local stores. We’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as something like that happens. Stay tuned in the meantime…
