South Korea’s LG U+ rebrands Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 to “Homeboy”

South Korea's LG U+ rebrands Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 to Homeboy

It’s not easy for LG U+ to offer devices made by LG’s archrival, Samsung. But it has to do it, cause otherwise it could face some legal consequences. Still, they have room to experiment with weird naming schemes that should apparently hide the fact that some product isn’t made by LG.

Take the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 as an example — it is being sold by LG U+ as “Homeboy.” You got that right, the carrier wants us to think of this tablet as a “home boy.”

Such ridiculous name is chosen to justify what this device can do for its owners, allowing them to access various U+ services like TV channels, music, video, e-book and educational software. Plus, it will double as a GPS device while on the go, and serve as an alarm when left at home.

We dig the idea, but still. Homeboy? Couldn’t they come up with something better? I’m sure the upcoming LG tablet will get a much better name after it launches later in the year…
