Sprint and Boost Mobile may have the Kyocera Hydro Edge, but Verizon Wireless is about to add a rugged, water-proof smartphone of its own. Starting tomorrow, the Big Red carrier will offer the Kyocera Hydro ELITE for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
Specs wise, we’re talking about a mid-range device that packs a 4.3-inch HD screen, 8-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, LTE connectivity support, 2,100mAh battery, NFC and a microSD memory card slot. In addition, this unit also supports Qi wireless charging so you don’t have to deal with cables (when you buy a compatible charger, that is).
To kick things off, Verizon hired Bear Grylls, star of television’s hit new series “Get Out Alive” and the father of three active boys. Grylls will be showcasing the Hydro ELITE’s key features on Kyocera’s YouTube channel. Right now you can watch a pretty cool commercial featuring a Sumo wrestler, nice lady and of course the Kyocera Hydro ELITE. Check it out…
