Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch was revealed just last week, and already Snapchat has announced that it will be releasing a version of its ephemeral photo and video sharing app for the device. Dubbed Snapchat micro, the app will allow users to send and receive snaps from their wrists.

“Our team is constantly looking at ways to reduce the time between our experience of a moment and our ability to share it. The Snapchat Micro app is an experiment we’re really excited about.” – Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel

The app wil fucntion similarly to the full-fledged version, allowing users to access the Galaxy Gear’s 1.4MP camera to capture photos and 10-second videos. If editing or doodling is needed, Snapchat micro will push the image/video to a user’s attached Galaxy Note device.

Samsung has stated that the Galaxy Gear will be receiving around 70 apps in the future, and Snapchat is one of the first to get on board. We’ll keep you updated as more developers begin to tinker with Samsung’s smartwatch.
