Samsung Ventures Investment Corporation (SVIC), which is the Korean giant’s global investment arm, has invested $4 million in provider of wireless charging and inductive power solutions – PowerbyProxi.
This is the first time Samsung is putting its cash into the wireless power industry, and as a result – it will be able to work closely with PowerbyProxi. And perhaps – get an early look into the up-and-coming technologies.
In related news, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced a strategic partnership with PowerbyProxi in a deal that would allow the company to use PowerbyProxi’s wireless power patent portfolio.
Samsung is a member of the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP), which is looking to promote Qualcomm’s WiPower standard.
