According to CNET, Google may be unveiling Android 4.4 KitKat as well as the Nexus 5 next Tuesday, October 15th.
The rumored release date comes from chatter from developers who attended the Google Launchpad event, where attendees were served both Key Lime Pie and KitKat bars to sweeten up their day. The event is a two-week long affair which helps start-ups develop and maintain their fledgling businesses.
At this point, we pretty much know what to expect from the Nexus 5, thanks to a leaked manual from last weekend. According to the manual, the next Nexus device will come touting a 4.95 inch 1080p HD IPS display with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage,LTE support, a 2300 mAh battery and will be running a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor.
As for Android 4.4 KitKat, the new version of Android’s OS is expected to bring some changes, such as a new flatter look and possible SMS/MMS integration into Hangouts.
While next week’s release is still unconfirmed, it’d be sweet to see the Nexus 5 in the flesh so soon, but I’m not holding my breath. We’ll keep you updated as more details emerge.
