Some time ago we’ve told you that AT&T may be looking into acquiring Vodafone now that it no longer owns part of Verizon Wireless. Well, Voda’s Group chief Vittorio Colao has nothing against such deal. Here’s what he said in an interview with Bloomberg: “We have a strategy and we are putting a lot of money into it, but if somebody comes and says ‘you have really beautiful assets’, then I will agree.”

Colao was also quick to clarify that what Vodafone is currently doing has nothing to do with prettying-up the business for a sale. “You must implement the best strategy for the assets you have and that is what I think we are now clearly doing,” he said.

The Big Red carrier’s current plan is based on an economic recovery in its core European markets in the coming years aligning with growth in demand for mobile data services.

If AT&T manages to pull this off, the end-result would be a behemoth operator, spanning a number of countries in the Western hemisphere. We’ll make sure you don’t miss a beat on this story…
