Micromax is far from a household name in the U.S. and Europe. In India, however, it’s the second largest smartphone maker with huge following and rather impressive line-up of value-for-money products.
Now they’re out with a unique tablet calls LapTab that can “handle” both Android and Windows 8.1. In addition, it also ships with a Surface-like keyboard cover that effectively transforms the tablet into a full-blown laptop, making it easier to type long emails edit documents and so on.
Specs wise, this device packs a 10.1-inch 1,280×800-pixel screen, 2-megapixel camera on both sides of the tablet, 1.46GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. The tablet will go on sale early next month though the price is still a mystery.
So it’s not exactly the Surface killer and in that sense the LapTab should be much more affordable. It’s unclear whether it will ever hit the Western hemisphere, though.
