HTC One owners across the globe have been receiving the Android 4.4 update, and now it’s our turn. HTC One owners in the U.S. will be receiving the update soon, as all major carriers are vetting the release for compatibility, or certification, which puts the update one step away from hitting your HTC One device.

So far, Developer Editions, Google Editions and unlocked variants of the HTC One have received Android 4.4 KitKat. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile HTC One updates are still in the certification phase, and the AT&T HTC One mini, Sprint HTC One Max and Verizon HTC One max are still in the integration phase. If you are confused about the update process and the various phases of an Android update, check out HTC’s infographic which breaks it all down in pictures.

The HTC One isn’t the only HTC device getting OS updates either. Here’s a list of other HTC slated for updates:

  • Verizon Droid DNA by HTC – Certification
  • Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 601 – Integration
  • HTC One X – Android 4.2.2 – Certification
  • HTC One X+ – Android 4.2.2 – Complete
  • Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE – Android 4.3 – Integration
While we’re still not exactly sure when the Android 4.4 update will be landing on HTC One devices in the U.S., we should see the update roll out by the end of this week, as reports of the update beginning the certification process were filed last week. It typically takes two weeks or so for the update to begin its rollout, but again, this varies by carrier and model of the device.
