India’s Karbonn was one of the new partners Microsoft has cornered to make Windows Phone devices. And guess what – they plan to go beyond that idea and launch a smartphone that can dual-boot to either Android or Windows Phone.
According to the recent Times of India article, this smartphone could be launched by June of this year. Price is still a mystery and so are the specs; we can only hope this will be a high-end device with Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip. Then again, with Windows Phone 8.1 – Microsoft introduced support for other Qualcomm-made SoC, including the Snapdragon 600 and 400, so we may actually see one of those chips powering up this interesting smartphone.
Another Indian company Micromax had recently unveiled the LapTap, a dual-boot Android and Windows 8.1 tablet that was shown off at this year’s CES.
So are people in India getting all crazy about running multiple platforms on a single device? Or that’s just a coincidence? What do you think?
