Unlocked HTC One now available for just $499, but should you buy it?

HTC decided to slash the price of its current flagship model by $100, bringing the total cost down to $499. While we still think that’s a great purchase — considering all the bells and whistles the One packs — we’re not sure now’s the right time to buy “one” of these.

In just two weeks, the Taiwanese company will unveil the All New One, which will make the “Old One” look, well, old. Not only will the next One rock a bigger screen and faster processor, but also few additional goodies like that secondary camera on the back that brings along several fancy effects, such as the ability to focus an image after the photo has been taken.

You should definitely think twice before committing a single dime of your hard-earned cash. On the other hand, you could argue that the All New One will be much more expensive; and while we dig that argument, remember that you can always grab it with a carrier contract. You will need some minutes, texts and data after all…
