LG is seemingly working on another version of its flagship smartphone, G2, or at least that’s what the company’s filing with the USPTO suggests.
Joining the recently announced LG G2 Mini may be the G2 Compact. Or not — just because there’s a patent filing, that doesn’t mean such phone will ever be released.
However, we do think there’s an opportunity here to launch a phone that sits somewhere between the “regular” LG G2 and its Mini version.
So what could the G2 Compact be all about? We tend to think it could be closer to the original G2 device, specs wise, and in that sense resemble Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact. Presuming such phone is ever released, it will most certainly have a smaller screen, but the rest of its specs could be top-notch and include things like Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip (or perhaps Snapdragon 600), 4.7- or 5-inch screen, 2GB of RAM, great camera on the back and so on.
Of course this is just me speculating at the moment, and we’ll have to wait for another few weeks, or even months, to get additional details…
