Now that the Xperia Z2 has been officially announced, we expect to see the Z2 Compact following suit. If we can take cues from the last year’s model, the smaller flagship will debut in Japan and only later hit the markets across the Western hemisphere.
Well, the Japanese version of the Xperia Z2 Compact has been caught at the FCC where the government employed engineers gave it their seal of approval. This means that the device is ready to be used on the U.S. soil, but chances are we’ll have to wait for another model to go through the same procedure before it starts selling in North America.
Meanwhile, we hope to see this pocketable and powerful smartphone unveiled as part of some Japanese carrier’s spring or summer collection of devices. Again, if we look what Sony did in 2013, this year’s device will be known as Xperia Z2 f in Japan. Hopefully, Sony will be faster this time round and bring us its “mini flagship” while we still want it…
