Today is that big day all Samsung fans have been waiting for, the arrival of the Galaxy S5. As usual, Samsung threw in everything but the kitchen sink with this powerhouse. So now that you’ve got the GS5 in your hands, it’s time to get down to business, and once again XDA Developers are here to help. A guide on how to mod your GS5 was published on XDA today, which includes instructions on how to enter recovery mode and obtain root on certain carrier specific GS5 models. GS5 variants that can be rooted as of today are:

  • SM-G900F (International Qualcomm)
  • SM-G900H (International Exynos)
  • SM-G900M (Middle and South America?)
  • SM-G900R4 (US Cellular)
  • SM-G900T (T-Mobile US)
  • SM-G900T1 (Metro PCS)
  • SM-G900W8 (Canada)

Expect more eligible devices in the near future, as Chainfire is hard at work rooting every last GS5 variant out there. Chainfire is the guy responsible for cracking the international version of the GS5 last week.

So, are you ready to get your hands dirty? Head on over to XDA Developers and dig in! We’ll be sure to update this post once more devices are added.
