Meizu is working round the clock to launch its next flagship device, MX4. From what we’ve heard, this powerful phone will be unveiled in August when users will be able to choose between at least two different variants.

One of the two will sport a big 5.5-inch screen with impressive screen resolution of 1536 x 2560 pixels. Meizu is known for its unique displays and with the MX4 that practice will (obviously) continue.

The other model will have a more standard 5-inch full HD screen. That unit will apparently be available in China for $320 off-contract; folks living elsewhere will likely have to pay much more for the same phone.

And that’s not all. The rumor goes on suggesting that one of these phones, or both — we’re not sure — will rock Qualcomm’s soon-to-be-launched Snapdragon 805 chip.

That’s all nice, but what we really want from Meizu is the Ubuntu phone. They should be one of the companies to bring the real Linux convergence to the masses. Hopefully, both MX4 models will be able to run Canonical’s Linux distribution.
