Xiaomi has scheduled and event for May 15th, when we hope to see two new devices announced – the Mi3S smartphone and MiPad tablet.

The first of the two will build on top of the current Mi3 model, adding a more powerful chip to the mix (Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz), an additional gig of RAM (for a total of 3GB), same/similar 13-megapixel rear camera, improved front-facing camera with an 8-megapixel sensor, LTE connectivity support, 5-inch full HD screen and 16GB of internal storage. We’ve also heard that the Mi3S will get a new design that will make the phone that much more appealing.

As for the MiPad, this will be a mid-range tablet, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 chip. It will sport a 9-ish-inch 720p HD screen and 2GB of RAM, while Xiaomi’s own MIUI will run the show on top of the Android core.

Another nugget that could be unveiled at this time is a whole new version of MIUI, one that’s based on Android 4.4 KitKat. Or not… We’ll have all the details within a week. Stay tuned…
