Huawei has teamed-up with smart watch maker Omate to make the Kids tracker watch, GizChina is reporting. The simply-lookin’ device has a big battery (or so it seems), cellular connectivity and GPS receiver to allow parents to easily locate their child.

In addition, the device has a small display that (obviously) shows the time and date. Forget about advanced features, this watch isn’t made for the wearer but for his/her parents.

At least initially, Huawei will sell this watch in China through China Unicom and, perhaps, it eventually bring it to other markets.

In the U.S. we have AT&T offering something similar – the FiLIP smart watch for kids, hinting us that some carriers see the potential of these sort of devices. We’ll let you know if we hear something new on this. Stay tuned in the meantime…
