LG G Watch with cellular connectivity in works?

Samsung may not be the only company working on a modern smartwatch with cellular connectivity (Gear Solo). According to the Korean media which cites “industry sources,” LG will join this trend as well and launch a version of the G Watch with SIM card slot.

The report goes on to add that this model will debut in South Korea where it will be offered through LG U+. We’ve no idea whether some other carrier will pick it up as well, either in Korea or other part of the world.

We are, however, confident that carriers like this idea, as it could potentially increase their ARPU. At the moment, they are selling us phones, tablets, laptops and mobile hotspots, with cars joining-in in the near future. Add smartwatches to the mix and they get another $10 or so per month from every user. Sounds compelling on their end; the question is whether there are enough users willing to commit to yet another contract. What do you think and would you but a smartwatch with a carrier contract?
