HTC Butterfly 2 is preparing to hit select markets across Asia, according UPleaks. Unlike other HTC phones, this one will sport an IP57-certified waterproof body, while boasting all of the same hardware components we’ve learn to love on the HTC One M8. These include a 5-inch full HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip, dual camera setup on the back, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. Moreover, there are familiar BoomSound speakers on the front that are further supported by the JBL LiveStage audio tech. Android 4.4 KitKat is running the show with HTC’s popular Sense UI singing on top.
The HTC Butterfly 2 (model number HTL23) will be unveiled in Japan on August 19th. It is also expected to hit Taiwan and few other Asia-Pacific markets by the end of September. For the time being, we have no idea whether it will also be available in the West at some point. That being said, we would appreciate something better from HTC, instead. Something with a Quad HD display and faster Snapdragon 805 chip. Alas, we’ll have to wait for another few months to see such HTC product hitting the markets of Europe and North America…
