Asus seems in the midst of exploring the latest version of Android with plans to launch firmware updates for its popular devices at some point next year.

Among the phones that will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update treatment are products from the ZenFone series, as well as select PadFone models, including the PadFone S and PadFone Infinity 2 (A86). Although, PadFone X and its mini variant were not explicitly mentioned, it’s safe to assume these two will get the same goodies.

The information, in case you wonder, comes from Taiwanese website Sogi (via PhoneArena), and has later been confirmed by Asus on one of its official forums.

The ZenFone series — consisting of ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 — has helped the Taiwanese vendor grow its market share. These three devices all boast Intel-made chips and a low price tag that made them appealing to the wider audience. It is said that Asus will unveil another model with a 5.5-inch screen in January 2015. Until then, the company may ship up to 8 million ZenFone units.
