Huawei expands wearable lineup with Watch Fit 5 series and luxury diamond edition

Huawei is making a bold push across multiple wearable segments with its latest smartwatch releases. The Chinese tech giant announced three new wearable lines at a global launch event in Bangkok, ranging from affordable fitness trackers to a diamond-studded luxury model priced at nearly $4,000.

The move shows Huawei’s strategy to compete across price points as the wearable market continues growing. While Apple dominates premium smartwatches and Fitbit holds the fitness segment, Huawei is betting it can win customers by offering more specialized options for different user groups.

Watch Fit 5 series brings mini-workouts and better health tracking

The new Watch Fit 5 lineup includes standard and Pro models aimed at fitness enthusiasts. The regular Watch Fit 5 has a 1.82-inch AMOLED display, while the Pro version bumps that up to 1.92 inches with sapphire glass and 3,000 nits of peak brightness.

The Pro model uses premium materials including titanium alloy and nanoceramic finishes. Both watches introduce a “Mini-Workout” mode with short guided exercises and an animated panda companion for users who want quick fitness sessions.

Health tracking gets upgrades across both models:

  • Improved sleep monitoring
  • Atrial fibrillation detection
  • ECG support (Pro model only)
  • Arterial stiffness monitoring (Pro model only)
  • Women’s health tracking with temperature sensors (Pro model only)

For outdoor activities, cyclists can view virtual power and cadence metrics in real time. The Pro version adds trail running navigation and golf course support covering more than 17,000 courses worldwide.

Battery life reaches up to 10 days with light usage or about a week with regular use. Both models work with Android and iOS devices.

Diamond-studded luxury edition targets premium buyers

The Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition represents Huawei’s push into luxury wearables. Co-designed with jewelry designer Francesca Amfitheatrof, the watch includes 99 natural diamonds, sapphire crystal details, and a titanium case inspired by Fibonacci mathematical patterns.

Despite the luxury focus, the watch maintains full smartwatch functionality including ECG monitoring, respiratory tracking, eSIM calling, NFC payments, and water resistance for diving up to 40 meters. The £3,499.99 price puts it in direct competition with luxury Swiss smartwatches and premium Apple Watch editions.

Racing-focused runner edition targets serious athletes

The Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition targets dedicated runners with improved GPS accuracy that Huawei claims is 20% better than previous models. This comes from a redesigned floating antenna system and dual-band satellite positioning.

Marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge helped develop training features including pace predictions, race preparation plans, lactate threshold analysis, and fueling reminders during long runs. The watch supports more than 100 sports modes and promises up to 14 days of battery life.

Pricing and availability details

The Watch Fit 5 series goes on sale May 7 through Huawei’s online store. The standard model costs £159.99 while the Pro version is priced at £249.99. Launch promotions running until June 21 include a £30 discount coupon, free watch strap, and Huawei Scale 3 with purchase.

The luxury Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition also launches May 7 for £3,499.99, while the Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition costs £349.99. All models support both Android and iPhone, though some features remain limited on iOS devices.
