Honor Pad 20 launch imminent with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and 12.1-inch display

Honor is preparing to launch the Pad 20, a new mid-range Android tablet that aims to compete in the crowded tablet market. The company has revealed key specifications and design details ahead of the official launch, with pre-reservations already available in China.

The timing of this launch comes as tablet manufacturers are pushing harder into the mid-range segment, trying to offer premium features at more accessible price points. Honor’s entry signals the company’s continued effort to expand beyond smartphones and establish itself in the broader Android device ecosystem.

The Honor Pad 20 centers around a 12.1-inch LCD display that Honor describes as “full-color paper-like.” The screen offers 3K resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it suitable for both media consumption and productivity tasks. This display size puts it in direct competition with other mid-range tablets from Samsung, Xiaomi, and other Android manufacturers.

Under the hood, the tablet runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, paired with Honor’s MagicOS 10.0 interface. The processor choice represents a solid middle ground, offering good performance without the premium cost of flagship chipsets. The device packs a substantial 10,100mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging, addressing one of the key pain points for tablet users who need all-day battery life.

The camera setup includes an 8MP rear camera housed in a circular module and an 8MP front-facing camera for video calls and selfies. While these specifications won’t win any photography awards, they’re adequate for the typical tablet use cases of document scanning and video conferencing.

Audio appears to be a focus area for Honor with this device. The Pad 20 features a six-speaker audio setup, which should provide better sound quality than the typical dual-speaker arrangements found on many competing tablets. This enhancement makes sense given that tablets are often used for media consumption where audio quality matters.

Storage and memory options include configurations up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. These specifications align with current mid-range tablet expectations and should provide enough performance for multitasking and storage for most users’ needs.

The tablet will be available in three color options:

  • Dazzling Pink
  • Forest Green
  • Gray

The color variety shows Honor’s attempt to appeal to different user preferences, with the pink and green options targeting users who want something more distinctive than typical black or gray tablets.

While Honor has confirmed the tablet’s specifications and opened pre-reservations in China, the company hasn’t announced pricing or international availability yet. The Pad 20’s success will likely depend on how competitively Honor prices it against established players like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A series and Xiaomi’s Pad lineup.
