Motorola is preparing to launch the Edge 70 Pro+ in India, just weeks after bringing the standard Edge 70 Pro to the country. A new Flipkart microsite has revealed key design details and camera specifications for the upcoming device.
The timing aligns with earlier reports suggesting a late-May launch for what will be the first Pro+ model in Motorola’s Edge series. While the company hasn’t officially named the device on the webpage, the URL clearly references the Edge 70 Pro+ branding.
The teaser campaign highlights Motorola’s focus on premium materials and photography capabilities. Images show a curved rear panel in burgundy with a triple-camera setup and textured finishes wrapped in satin cloth, suggesting a premium feel. Text around the camera module mentions “LYTIA”, “OIS”, “2.0µm”, and “12.81 mm Focal Length”, pointing to Sony’s LYTIA imaging system with optical image stabilization.
Motorola has confirmed three finish options: Satin-Luxe, Sculpted Wood, and a Twill-inspired texture. This continues the company’s recent strategy of using material-driven designs to differentiate from competitors who are moving toward flatter, more uniform looks. The emphasis on portrait photography in teasers suggests the inclusion of a dedicated telephoto lens.
The Edge 70 Pro+ appears designed to address gaps left by the Indian version of the Edge 70 Pro, which launched in April at Rs 38,999 but lacked several features from the global model. Reports suggest the Pro+ could essentially be the global Edge 70 Pro repackaged for India under a different name, potentially bringing:
- Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging
- eSIM support
- 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom
- 6.8-inch 144Hz AMOLED display
- MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset
- IP68/IP69 protection
- 6,500mAh battery with 90W wired charging
This launch strategy reflects broader trends in the Indian smartphone market, where companies often create region-specific variants to hit different price points. The Pro+ fills a notable gap in Motorola’s Indian lineup between the standard Edge 70 Pro and the premium Signature series.
Pricing will be crucial for the device’s success. While the global Edge 70 Pro costs around EUR 799 (roughly Rs 89,000), Indian pricing is typically more aggressive. With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered Motorola Signature starting at Rs 59,999, the Pro+ could slot into the Rs 40,000-55,000 range.
This positions it against strong competitors including the Vivo V70 series with Zeiss cameras, the OnePlus 15R, and iQOO 15R. While OnePlus and iQOO offer superior Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 performance, Motorola’s focus on camera quality and premium materials could appeal to buyers wanting flagship features without ultra-premium pricing.
The Rs 50,000 price segment has become increasingly competitive, making the Pro+’s feature set and final pricing critical for success. If Motorola delivers the full global specification list, it could offer a compelling alternative for buyers seeking balanced premium features in this crowded market segment.
