iQOO is making a bold statement in the flagship smartphone market with its latest device. The Chinese brand has launched the iQOO 15T in China, positioning it as a performance-focused flagship that borrows design cues from the premium iQOO 15 Ultra. The phone sports the company’s signature Future Capsule camera module and a low-temperature matte-finish frame.

This launch comes at a time when smartphone makers are pushing the boundaries of battery capacity and mobile gaming performance. The iQOO 15T addresses both trends with some impressive hardware choices that could influence how other manufacturers approach flagship specifications.

The phone centers around a 6.82-inch 2K AMOLED display that adapts its refresh rate from 1Hz to 144Hz using LTPO technology. The BOE Q10+ panel delivers a 3168 x 1440 resolution and can reach up to 4500 nits peak brightness. It supports HDR, P3 wide color gamut, and includes 2592Hz PWM dimming along with multiple eye-comfort technologies.

Under the hood, the iQOO 15T runs on MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 Monster Edition chipset. The octa-core processor reaches speeds up to 4.21GHz and pairs with an ARM G1-Ultra GPU. What makes this setup particularly interesting for mobile gamers is iQOO’s custom Q3 gaming chip, which adds:

  • Real-time ray tracing support
  • 2K super-resolution enhancement
  • Up to 144FPS frame interpolation in compatible games

The phone runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, with iQOO claiming the device will maintain smooth performance for up to five years. That’s a significant longevity promise in a market where phones often slow down after two years.

The camera system takes a dual-lens approach rather than the triple or quad setups common on flagships. The main 200MP sensor uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor with f/1.88 aperture, optical image stabilization, and CIPA 4.5-grade stabilization. It can shoot 8K video and offers features like 4x lossless zoom, 40x digital zoom, Super Moon mode, and full focal-length portraits from 23mm to 100mm. A 50MP ultra-wide camera with macro support completes the rear setup, while a 16MP front camera handles selfies.

The standout feature is the 8000mAh battery using second-generation semi-solid-state technology. This capacity is well above the 4000-5000mAh range typical for flagship phones. The battery supports 100W fast charging, reverse charging, and a direct power supply mode for gaming sessions.

Additional features include 4000Hz touch sampling, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual nano-SIM 5G, stereo speakers, an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint scanner, and IP68/IP69 water resistance. The phone also includes an infrared blaster and X-axis linear motor.

The pricing strategy positions the iQOO 15T competitively in the flagship market:

  • 12GB + 256GB: 3,799 yuan ($570)
  • 16GB + 256GB: 4,199 yuan ($630)
  • 12GB + 512GB: 4,499 yuan ($675)
  • 16GB + 512GB: 4,899 yuan ($735)
  • 16GB + 1TB: 5,699 yuan ($855)

The phone is available in China in three colors: Qingyun (colorful), Legend Edition (White), and Track Edition (Black). These prices put the iQOO 15T well below premium flagships from Samsung and Apple while offering comparable or superior specifications in key areas like battery capacity and gaming performance.

This launch reflects the growing importance of mobile gaming in smartphone design decisions. The combination of the custom gaming chip, high refresh rate display, massive battery, and aggressive pricing suggests iQOO is targeting users who prioritize gaming performance over brand prestige. Whether this approach will influence broader flagship trends remains to be seen, but the 8000mAh battery capacity alone sets a new benchmark that competitors may need to match.
