Realme Watch S5 brings bright AMOLED display and 20-day battery life for under Rs 8,000

Realme has launched its Watch S5 smartwatch, marking a design shift from the square-dialed Watch 5 to a more traditional circular form factor. The new device arrives with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display capable of reaching 1,000 nits brightness and an aluminum construction that weighs just under 50 grams.

The Watch S5 enters an increasingly competitive budget smartwatch segment where brands are cramming flagship features into sub-Rs 8,000 devices. This trend reflects growing consumer demand for affordable wearables that don’t compromise on health tracking or smart features.

Priced at Rs 7,999 with an early bird discount bringing it down to Rs 7,499, the Watch S5 goes head-to-head with Nothing’s recently launched CMF Watch 3 Pro. Both watches share similar specifications and target the same price-conscious consumers who want comprehensive smartwatch functionality without premium pricing.

The Watch S5’s 1.43-inch AMOLED display offers a 466 x 466 resolution with 302 PPI pixel density. Realme has used Panda Glass protection, the same material found on many smartphones, to shield the screen from daily wear and scratches. The aluminum construction keeps the total weight at 49.63 grams including the strap.

Health and fitness tracking capabilities span over 110 sports modes, covering everything from running courses to stretching guides. The watch integrates multiple monitoring systems:

  • Heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring
  • Sleep quality and stress level tracking
  • Women’s health monitoring
  • Noise level monitoring
  • Daily activity tracking for steps, calories, and distance

GPS functionality uses five global satellite navigation systems to track routes during outdoor activities. This level of positioning accuracy typically appears in more expensive wearables, making it a notable inclusion at this price point.

Smart connectivity features include Bluetooth calling through a built-in speaker and microphone combination. The AMOLED display supports Always On Display mode with multiple watch face options. Battery performance is rated at 16 days in standard mode or 20 days with light smart mode enabled, thanks to a 460mAh capacity that charges fully in 2.5 hours via magnetic charging.

The device carries 5ATM water resistance, making it suitable for swimming and water sports. This durability rating has become standard in the budget smartwatch category as manufacturers compete on feature completeness.

Realme will sell the Watch S5 in Rock Grey and Sand White colors starting June 5th through Flipkart, Realme’s online store, and physical retail locations. The competitive pricing strategy reflects how budget smartwatch makers are pushing premium features downmarket to capture users upgrading from basic fitness trackers.

The Watch S5’s arrival coincides with intensifying competition in India’s affordable smartwatch segment, where brands like Nothing, Amazfit, and Noise are all vying for market share. Success in this category increasingly depends on offering the most comprehensive feature set at aggressive price points, rather than focusing on any single standout capability.
